Street Cleaning Parking helps users remember when to move their car to avoid street cleaning tickets: park, tap to set reminders, and customise notifications.
Pablo and I purchased a car in 2023 and struggled with varying street cleaning rules in our San Francisco neighbourhood. Each street had different parking regulations, making it difficult to track requirements. Making a mistake was $90.
Initial wireframes outlined a three-step process: selecting a street on a map, receiving a modal popup, and setting a notification.
The minimum viable product featured a map screen and bottom modal. Two automatic notifications were set, one hour and ten minutes before street cleaning times, to minimise user actions.
After releasing to 300 beta users, we collected responses via Google Sheet and identified three key themes for improvement, later implementing custom notifications, calendar integration, and search functionality.
We considered a paid subscription model versus free access. We implemented a free trial, simplified the onboarding flow to one page, and received iOS App Store approval after four weeks.

By 2024, we avoided tickets entirely. The app reached 448 downloads and has helped San Francisco residents since January.
Potential features include gamification through "ticket streaks," family account sharing, and expansion to additional cities.
